WAAST Prayer Guide – January 24, 2021
Central African Republic
This desert country just observed 60 years of independence from France—but most people find little to celebrate. Unrest due to multiple Muslim and (cultural) Christian rebel groups, displacement, lack of resources and land to farm, continue to affect the lives of millions. Most Central Africans identify as Christians but hold fast to traditional beliefs in spirit worship. The Assemblies of God-CAR continues to evangelize and open new works, and has reopened most of the churches that had closed due to instability. Each local church is encouraged to develop projects to provide resources to support this work and help its members. Some 40 students are receiving training at the Bible school in Bangui and in Burkina Faso.
Please pray
- that the Spirit would work in the hearts of Muslims and “Christians” alike, to bring them into a relationship with their Savior and peace to the nation;
- for the outreach, church-planting, and church revitalization projects of the AG-CAR;
- for more Spirit-filled workers willing to be trained and sent out;
- for the Bible school, led by a WAAST alumnus and church leader, as it trains both men and women to serve.
- that calm would be restored after the recent contested presidential election, and for wisdom for CAR’s leaders.
Look What the Lord Has Done!
The AG is placing a greater emphasis on the need for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, and is working hard to plant new churches and revitalize closed ones. The number of churches has grown from 16 reported in 2019 to 41! Three students completed Bible training in Burkina Faso and can now help to train others in the CAR, and 36 will form the first graduating class of the AG Bible school.
