WAAST Prayer Guide – February 7, 2021

CONGO-BRAZZAVILLE

Most people in this central African nation consider themselves Christians, but relatively few have a true relationship with Jesus. False doctrine, prosperity teachings, and traditional religious beliefs lead many to distort the pure truth of the gospel. COVID-19 restrictions have greatly hampered church activities, especially those of Pentecostal churches, including the AG, that take a stand against occult practices and false teaching. Churches could not hold their Christmas and New Year’s services. The AG Bible school was able to hold a late graduation in December, launching 18 new workers. Despite restrictions, church planting efforts continue, mainly in villages, bringing the number of AG churches to about 130.

Please pray

  • for the election of a new superintendent this year and for the leadership of the Congo AG;
  • for the Bible school graduates as they join other pastors in leading churches, teaching their people correct doctrine and leading them into the fullness of the Spirit;
  • for provision to build new churches, especially in the cities, where new restrictions have made it more expensive and difficult;
  • for a Pentecostal outpouring from the national- to local-church level and renewal of a strong missionary vision;
  • for the presidential election in March, and for favor of the government toward the Church.

Look what the Lord has done!

More than 10 churches were planted in 2020. The lay-training program and Bible school have been able to continue holding classes and are currently in session.
