GUINEA-CONAKRY

The Assemblies of God of Guinea has continued to establish new works and now counts 210 churches, up from 140. When they were closed due to the pandemic, churches organized house fellowships, and some broadcast services on social media. In a recent revival seminar, pastors and layworkers came together and made a commitment that each church would plant two new works in 2021. The Bible school in Conakry was able to reopen in November with around 30 students. Work continues on the Bible school building. Three classrooms are in use, and a library, offices, a classroom for women’s literacy training women, and other rooms are in progress. AG missionaries from several other West African nations help train, plant churches, and reach out through social work. Islam is the predominant religion, and often Muslim landlords and neighbors restrict the freedom of churches and believers. WAAST has graduated six pastors from Guinea-Conakry, including the current general superintendent.

Please pray

• for provision and open doors as pastors and churches plant new churches this year;
• for the completion of the multi-story Bible school building, and for more qualified professors to help in the vital work of training pastors;
• that the Lord would touch the hearts of Muslims through the witness and love of believers, and reveal Jesus to them in dreams and visions;
• for the government. The president was reelected for a third term and is slowly setting up his government. Pray that he would surround himself with leaders who fear God and who will grant favor to the Church.

The work continues to grow, with 70 new churches and more students in the Bible school. An alumnus says, “We thank God that the pandemic situation did not keep the Christians from worshiping the Lord.”
