WAAST Prayer Guide – April 18, 2021
THE EXTENSION CENTERS IN CONGO (DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC)
In March 2020, courses at the newly opened WAAST center in Lubumbashi were abruptly stopped as the pandemic started. Courses at both the BTh and MA levels to be held in Kinshasa later in the year were likewise canceled. The centers have now reopened, and 15 students recently completed a session in Lubumbashi. In Kinshasa, sessions were held in January/February 2021, with both morning and evening classes offered at two different venues, and the Master’s students will meet later this year. A total of nearly 100 students are active in these centers. More than 200 Congolese have graduated from WAAST. They are involved in pastoring, training of pastors and lay leaders, church planting, and compassion ministries. They need right biblical knowledge and the power of the Spirit to confront aberrant doctrines that influence many Christians to focus on earthly, not eternal, gain. They face the challenges of political and economic instability. Some work in areas where terrorism is a daily threat and thousands are displaced.
Please pray
- that church leaders and teachers would cling to the Holy Spirit, boldly preach His truth, and wisely correct those who are tempted to follow false teachers;
- for provision for students for school fees and for travel to the centers;
- for Assemblies of God and other churches in the conflict-ridden northeastern part of DRC as they seek to minister to believers and others who have lost homes and livelihoods. May they be blessed and be a blessing to many.
Look What the Lord Has Done!
Thank God that classes have been able to resume, and for successful launch of the new center in DRC’s second city, Lubumbashi.
