WAAST Prayer Guide – November 28, 2021
This week pray for YOUTH PASTORS
The onset of the global pandemic and the subsequent restrictions and economic fallout this past year have made life for young people (late teens to marriage) in Africa more uncertain. Some have fallen behind in school or no longer have the means to attend. Job opportunities, already lacking for many, are fewer. In the midst of these new challenges, those who minister to young people must help them to turn to and trust in Jesus to guide them and provide for them. Where in-person meetings are still restricted, youth pastors must find creative ways to bring groups together for fellowship and discipleship, usually through social media. They must pray for them and encourage them to stand against the lure of false “prosperity” teachings, cults that promise social standing and wealth, the drug trade and other illicit business—even the invitation to accept Islam in order to receive scholarships or jobs. Youth pastors must help them to become grounded in God’s Word and filled with the Spirit, Who will guide them in every area of their lives.
Please pray
- for wisdom for youth pastors as they find creative ways to help young people grow in their faith and navigate the many challenges facing them;
- for young people who have lost opportunities for schooling and/or jobs, that they might see miracles of God’s provision and faithfulness, and resist temptations to compromise their faith for temporal gain;
- that the testimony of Christian young people would encourage others to seek the same hope they have found;
- for the spiritual and family lives of youth pastors, that they may serve as examples of godly living.
